Nashville, TN – On July 20, George Kurz, PE, DEE, will be presenting at the Kentucky-Tennessee Water Professionals Conference in Nashville. His presentation will evaluate the “Standardized Procedure” method used by BWSC and the Nashville OAP for measuring I & I in sewers – compared to the “RTK” method endorsed by EPA. The research explains how BWSC‘s method follows the statistical approach recommended by “Standard Methods” (since 1905) and demonstrates that this method is superior. Additionally, results from 62 flow monitoring sites (representing 1,014 rainfall events and 13,177 days) will be summarized in his presentation to illustrate the high quality of engineering information that results from proper application of this procedure.
George, an Environmental Engineer in the Nashville office, hopes to use his presentation as a trial, and if successful, plans to write an article regarding the procedure for the Water Environment Federation’s Water Environment & Technology Magazine. In addition, George will also be acting as the moderator for the “Collection Systems Issues” session at the conference.
