BWSC, in association with Trotter and Associates, prepared a master plan for re-development of the environmental education facility at Tremont located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (GSMNP) as a residential environmental education center. In addition to many site sustainable design elements, the master plan recommended the use of alternative energy sources, such as hydro and solar. Local/regional materials, along with recycled materials, were proposed. The master plan design is intended to meet LEED® criteria for certification. The plan received an honor award from the Tennessee Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
